TRG Motorsports is pleased to announce that 19-year-old Ben Stancillhas been signed to a driver development deal that is aimed at preparing the North Carolina native for a fulltime
assault on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2009. Stancill is scheduled to participate in two test
sessions and two races for TRG Motorsports in an ARCA RE/MAX Series stock car in an effort to gain
clearance by NASCAR to compete in the Craftsman Truck Series full-time next year.
“We are really excited to bring Ben in as a development driver for TRG Motorsports,” explained Kevin Buckler,
Team Principal. “Ben has shown an incredible amount of focus and ability. He has won in every type of car
that he has strapped into and we are confident that he’ll have a solid shot at winning while driving here at TRG
Motorsports. He comes from a good solid family with a strong work ethic. The first time we spoke it was hard
to hear him as he was farming beans on his tractor!”
Stancill is the oldest son of Chris and Lori Stancill. He was born into a farming and racing family and has
experienced hard, physical farm work as well as the fun and exhilaration of racing. Stancill was first introduced
to racing by his Grandfather at the age of seven and quickly captured several track championships in go-karts
on both dirt and asphalt tracks. In 2002, Stancill began racing Legend cars, securing State championships and
consistently finishing among the top-five in the nation each year.
In 2006, Stancill moved into a Late Model Truck and in his first year has captured the championship at Hickory
(N.C) Motor Speedway. During the 2006 season, Stancill also acquired a Hooters Pro Cup car and competed
in three events – qualifying on the outside pole in his very first Hooters Pro Cup race. Ben competed full-time
in the Hooters Pro Cup Series in 2007, receiving the Leavitt Chassis Hard Charger Award. In 2008, Ben has
competed in the NASCAR Camping World East Series and the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
“I’m really looking forward to making the next step in my racing career with TRG Motorsports,” said Stancill. “I
have been working back at the shop everyday and have seen firsthand the quality and workmanship that goes
into each car or truck that they prepare. I think this is a great opportunity for me to move forward with my
career and I couldn’t ask to be affiliated with a better team.”
