STANCILL FINISHES 4TH AT GREENVILLE PICKENS
Ben Stancill proved that a lack of experience at a track will not
affect his ability to bring success to his BSW Construction/ Stancill Farms
Chevy team. Ben came from 7th to score a solid 4th place finish in the An
American Revolution 150 held at the famous half-mile Greenville Pickens track.
Starting 7th in a 30 car field, Stancill stayed out of trouble and raced into a
very respectable top five finish in the Camping World East Series opener.
"We practice here last week and the track was a lot hotter then.
So today, we were a little tight in practice." Stancill said of his efforts in
the one and only practice allowed on race day. Due to rain early in the day, the
competitors were only allowed one short practice. Stancill showed up 16th
quickest during practice. "My crew chief Mark Huff and the guys loosened up the
car for qualifying and it was a lot better." said Stancill after picking up
over half a second for his qualifying time.
During the race, Stancill fell as far back as 11th but patiently worked his way
up into the top five. Stancill held his own during the numerous double file
restarts and negotiated through lapped traffic like a seasoned veteran. "The
experience I gained last year in the Hooters Pro Cup was a big help. I was
trying to save my tires as much as possible. Huff loosened the car for
qualifying and then we were real loose during the race. I knew I didn't have
anything for Sellers, Dillon, or Davis at the end. I'm very happy to bring my
#91 BSW Construction-Stancill Farms Chevy home in 4th place and in one piece!"
an excited Stancill said after the race.
Due to budget restrictions, Ben Stancill plans to run only 6 or 7 races this
year in the Camping World East Series. Stancill said, "I am thankful to have
the opportunity to run a few races this year. Car owner Butch Warrington and my
parents are my only sponsors right now, so it's impossible for us to make all
the races; but I hope to be competitive at the races that I can attend."
FOOTNOTE: DUE TO A RULES INFRACTION - THE WINNER, PEYTON SELLERS, WAS DISQUALIFIED IN POST RACE TECH. THIS DISQUALIFICATION MOVED BEN STANCILL INTO A 3RD PLACE FINISH!!
