Ben Stancill and the #63 MB Motorsports Ford team finished 25th in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway. Stancill completed only 51 laps of the event which was ultimately rain delayed and then rain shortened.
In his first start at the 1.5 mile paved track in Kansas City, Kansas; Stancill posted a qualifying time of 34.051 seconds at a speed of 158.586 miles per hour. The camping World Truck Series took the green flag under stormy skies with Stancill advancing to the 24th position in just a few laps. But trouble with the transmission would soon bring an end to Stancill’s day.
“During the second caution, I noticed that the truck was stuck in 4th gear. I pitted for tires and then again for gas. The clutch was gone after those two stops.” stated a dejected Stancill. Stancill and his team made the decision to load up after the rain delayed restart was announced for Monday at 10am. “We figured it would take at least 30 minutes to change the transmission and the clutch once the race resumed. That means I would miss at least 60 laps of racing; possibly the rest of the race. We just could not justify keeping all our guys in Kansas for two more days for 30 more laps of racing at best.” NASCAR prohibits teams from working on their race trucks under red flag conditions. “It was a pleasure to work with Mike Mittler and his team. Everyone worked really hard to get the truck ready for this race. I’m just disappointed that I didn’t get a chance to finish. I know we had a top 20 truck and I’m looking forward to racing with MB Motorsports again.”
MB Motorsports has fielded a truck in the NASCAR division since the inaugural 1995 season. 20 Year old Ben Stancill from Ayden, NC now joins an elite group of drivers that have driven MB Motorsports Trucks, Including: Carl Edwards, Jamie McMurry, Brad Keselowski, Regan Smith, Justin Allgaier, the late Kenny Irwin Jr. and the late Tony Roper.
